Rotten Tomatoes 100 Best Reviewed Sci-Fi Movies

Rotten Tomatoes, the film review site, has their 100 Best Reviewed Sci-Fi Movies. (Not sure how old this is because I stumbled upon it via delicious.)

Their top 10 is as follows:

  1. ET
  2. Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
  3. Metropolis
  4. Alien
  5. Minority Report
  6. The Empire Strikes Back
  7. Children Of Men
  8. The Host
  9. Star Wars (A New Hope)
  10. Aliens

 Wow. Erm. Interesting.

Argh!! I HATE ET! How can they possibly have a lame movie like that at number one and then have Metropolis at number 3, which only ever gets towards the top of a list because it was effectively the first and they like to make themselves look all impressive... I hate these kind of lists...

Except, I've just realised it's not some dumb panel that have decided, but the dumb users... so I suppose that explains it.

Presumably voted by everybody and not just SF fans. So I guess ET at #1 can be explained (plus there's the nostalgia effect). Eternal Sunshine at #2 surprised me, I loved that film, proper SF, I'm surprised everyone else liked it too.
