Battlestar Galactica season 3 date confirmed

Via Unofficial Battlestar Galactica Blog "The show's third season is set to kick
off on Friday, October 6 at 10:00/9:00c". (+1 hour bittorrent)

It also does that weird American thing where they show half the series (10 episodes) have a big break, then come back (in 2007) for 10 more episodes.

The weird "American thing" with our usual television season has to do with the school calendar. In the fall, as school is coming back into session all of the new television shows come on. The break that you refer to is the holidays, when school is out and most people are too busy shopping, having and attending parties, and enjoying winter rather than sit and watch TV in the evening. Once the holidays are over the season usually continues until Spring, when schools start letting out and everyone wants to spend more time outside.

Well, you learn something every day! In the UK the Christmas period is the time where all the best TV shows are put on, presumably because people just eat and watch telly :-)

The weird American thing is not really an American thing at all.

In fact just about no one over here understood SciFi's decision to drastically split their seasons. We usually chop up our official "new" seasons with a spattering of reruns, but nothing like what they've done with BsG.

Until this post I actually assumed it was a weird British thing.

Okay, I shall rephrase...

"That weird SCI FI Channel thing..."
