Doctor Who Children in Need special - review

The Doctor Who Children in Need Special was aired last night and is online now. It was much, much better than I expected...

It was pretty much the first scene from the next episode, the Christmas special, which presumably means that The Christmas Invasion will dive straight into the action. It was a nice scene too, Rose coming to terms with the Doctor's new appearance, and not believing him for a while. This is our first real glimpse of David Tennant as the doctor and he does it with style, really very excellent, very witty. Anthony Head has said that Tennant does the doctor effortlessly and you can see that.

Then at the end of the scene some action, the regeneration starts going wrong (classic Who plotline), segue into a crash landing in the Christmas Special.

Also included in the online clips are the appeal segments recorded by Billie Piper and David Tennant. Immediately apparent is that the relationship between the two seems excellent, and I'm sure that this will translate into a wonderful on screen chemistry. These segments are also remarkable if you haven't heard David Tennant's natural Scottish accent! It's hard to believe that his English Doctor Who accent (and the one he did fpr Cassanova) is not his natural one, but it's true, he's Scottish.
