Doctor Who - Father's Day
Rose and the Doctor go back in time to the day that her father died.
Interesting episode this one. For the first time Rose thinks about what she would actually like to do with a Time Machine, and the answer is to be with her father when he dies. Of course it all goes wrong, because Rose saves her father.
It was nice that the Doctor and Rose went back twice to the same event and saw themselves. Get ready for the paradoxes! I liked the idea of exploring what happens when you mess up time, although I'm not so keen on the answer....big monsters appear in the sky and eat people. Hmmm.
But really this episode was all about Rose meeting her dad and the emotional aspect of this was played out brilliantly. All the acting was superb, and it gave the episode a nice depth.
Another great bit, the Doctor opening the TARDIS doors to find that it was just a police box. Oh oh.
In the end this was a satisfying episode with a nice story and some good character development. It was quieter in tone than recent episodes, less action etc, but it made a nice change.
The website for the episode has 5 new video clips and two photo stories.
